32oz (2lb) bag of fresh green beans
5 slices of bacon, chopped
1 can of chicken stock
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
Salt and pepper
Red pepper flakes
In the bottom of your stock pot, cook bacon. Once its almost cooked, add the onions and a little pepper, and cook together until bacon is completely cooked. Remove bacon and onions from pot and set aside. In stock pot (don’t clean, will need bacon fat/grease for flavor), add green beans, chicken stock, and enough water to cover the green beans. Add garlic powder, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste. Bring to a boil, then simmer with lid on for about 3hrs, or until beans are tender. Once cooked, strain beans and mixed with bacon and onions. Serve warm.
*note: to make the green beans in your crockpot, put all the ingredients except the bacon and onions in your crockpot and cook on high for 2 hours or on low for 4 hours. cook the bacon and onions on your stove, then add to the strained green beans once they are cooked.
